About Dr. Keshan Gainey Chambliss

Lt Col Keshan Chambliss was born on March 4, 1969, in Jacksonville, Florida, as the youngest of five children to Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Rosa Gainey. She graduated with honors from Paxon School for Advanced Studies in June 1987, ranking among the top 8% of her class and being recognized in Who’s Who Among High School Students. Dr. Chambliss attended Florida State University, where she earned an Associate of Arts Degree and joined the Army National Guard. Following completion of basic and advanced training, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts at the University of North Florida and subsequently achieved both Master’s and Doctoral degrees in 1998.

Her military service includes appointment as a Direct Commission MSC Officer in The Florida Army National Guard under Major General Michael Calhoun, followed by joining the Florida Air National Guard’s 125th Medical Group in May 2002 as Health Services Administrator, focusing on airmen’s physical and mental fitness. In September 2003, Dr. Chambliss married, and in April 2004 welcomed Elijah Chambliss while serving in the Florida Air National Guard. Her professional experience encompasses roles such as Case Manager, Behaviorist, Mental Health Counselor, Therapeutic Friend for emotionally disturbed children, and Support Coordinator, dedicated to advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities. Additionally, she serves as Inspector Technician for the Supervisor of Election Office, aiding voter access.

Dr. Chambliss has demonstrated a strong commitment to community engagement, holding membership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she was elected National Panhellenic Representative, and participating actively in Links Inc. since May 2018 across multiple committees supporting underserved populations. Appointed as TRUE Commissioner by the City Council President, she chaired the advisory committee for two terms, providing guidance on fiscal policy to city leadership. Her recent appointments include the Johnson YMCA Advisory Board, and graduation from Leadership Jacksonville (2024) and Communivercity (2025), further enhancing her leadership skills.

After retiring from military service following a distinguished 33-year career, Dr. Chambliss now serves as an Air Force Instructor at Westside High School, leading and mentoring cadets. She is eager to continue her service to the community as the City Council representative for District #10.
